"Communicating Scale and Performance"
When IDX wanted to celebrate its 35th anniversary as well as the company’s outstanding record of performance and contributions to the advancement of healthcare, its 2003 annual report was the ideal vehicle. We helped IDX formulate a message around four key themes. With limited time and few photographic options, we created a clean design that emphasizes strong performance data displayed in bold typographic treatments and chart graphics. The result was a book that portrayed IDX as established, impressive and growing.

"Using Design to Express the Brand"
A new lead team at JPMorgan Chase Investor Services wanted to position the group as having a dynamic and innovative strategy for growing a global network. In response, we created a series of original illustrations using simple lines that evoke both financial graphs and longitudinal/latitudinal lines. We placed these elements in strong circular and diagonal shapes, giving a powerful sense of movement, interaction and growth.

"Communicating Complex Messages Clearly"
M+S designed a format for Merrill Lynch Global Philanthropy that allows them to structure their annual report according to giving priorities: Youth (IPO and Signature Programs) and Other Giving (Higher Education, The Arts, Communities, Health). The resulting annual uses bold colors and graphics to communicate how the information is organized and takes a distinctive approach to the use of photographic materials. The resulting book compellingly underscores the company’s innovative approach to developing youth.
